* Disk Cataloger *
* *
****************************************************************************
DiskCat is the the disk cataloger I always wanted. The files can be
organized any way you want. You can make and name any category you care to.
Categories and files can be moved. By a menu selection all disks that are
inserted are automaticly searched and the useful information copied.
A 40 charter comment can be entered for each file. Files can be move around
and/or deleted from the data base. You move around by double clicking on
the categories or by using the ROOT and PARENT gadget and/or menu
selection. 2.04 + is required to run diskcat.
There are a few limits. Disks with names over 30 charters long will have
their name truncated. Files with names over 30 charters long can't be
loaded and might prevent some of the other files on the disk from being
loaded.

<< Getting Started >>
---------------------
The first thing you should do is set up your categories and sub-categories.
Select the menu item "Add Category" or right-Amiga A and write in
a name. Categories can be nested. Just double click on a category you
all ready made. Look at the top left text gadget. That is the name if the
category you are now in. Categories can be nested to infinity. To load a
disk select the menu item "Load" or "Load Next". "Load Next" will search
and get the useful information from the next disk inserted. "Load" is
the same as "Load Next" except every disk inserted is searched. The
"Filter" menu item will enable/disable filtering of the loaded files.
The filter patterns are created in the config editor. Any file name that
matches a pattern will not be loaded. If the "Catalog" menu item is
checked-marked an edit requester will appear after a disk has been loaded.
A 40 charter comment can be entered now. Click on the "done" when you
are finished. You can also delete the file from the database. You have
a chance to do this for every file or click on "Quit" to quit. Next a
move requester will appear. All new files will automaticly be put in the
"uncataloged" category. The "uncataloged" category is special. It can't be
moved or deleted. Categories can't be added to it. Only files can be moved
into it. The move requester contains two list view. Files and categories
can be moved from one side to the other. Files can only be moved to empty
categories or categories with other files. Categories can only be moved
to empty categories or categories with other categories. The cycle gadget
allows you to move all the files from one side to the other. It must be
set to "Selected" in order to move a category. To move a file double click
on it or select it and click the "Move" gadget. To move a category select
it and click "Move". When a category is moved it's entire contents is moved
along with it. If you have any further question E-mail me at qaz@eskimo.com
